I first came across Caryn’s work while browsing Etsy. Some seriously talented people on that site! Her work really isn’t like anything I have seen (maybe I’m looking in the wrong places) but it’s incredible. I love the way she uses photography to capture some images that make you think and then think again. Much of her art looks dark and moody but Caryn reassures us in her bio that she is otherwise “bubbly, light-hearted and even goofy.” Please read her bio. She really sums up everything I could ever want to ask her!
I am a firm believer that it is in the job description of an artist to make one feel- feel something. Joy or sadness or both at the same time. Safe and fuzzy or creeped out or both at the same time. But if you don’t feel anything at all when looking at a piece of art, then my friends, you probably need to check your pulse or perhaps the artist is shitty–usually that’s not the case. But I’m rambling. My point is that Caryn’s photos are beautiful and scary and then more beautiful the more you think on them. Here are a few that I really love.
