One Room Challenge Week 3- Lighting Cha cha changes

Welcome back and thanks for stopping to check my progress. Right now as I type this, my amazing husband is painting and watching Game 4 of the NLCS Mets vs Cubs. I kid you not. Check out my IG for proof. Beer in hand and rolling the walls- multi tasking at its finest. Since our son is having a sleep over with his Gammy, Craig is taking advantage of this “quiet” time by getting some of the nursery done- thank you sweet Jesus we may actually get this done in the next 3 weeks! I’m happily writing this blog post ahead of time in peace and quiet without little fingers adjusting the speaker volume on my Mac every two seconds.

This past weekend flew by and only saw a tinsy bit of anything that slightly looked like progress. Actually, we had a pretty terrible snafu. The gorgeous light fixture meant to make the room has broken the room. It’s just wayyyy too big. Insert super sad face here.

Take a look at the sad situation. Not sure how I miscalculated this one- I’m blaming the hormones! 
It looks all sort of ridiculous. Oh well. Such is life. 
Not too worry though, it will be going in the kids’ playroom where it has more than enough room to look fabulous. 
We do have another option that was originally my thought when I was first planning this nursery. One of my very good friends gave us 2 (yes you read that right) 2 lucite ribbon chandeliers when she first purchased her home. They weren’t her style so she gladly gave them to moi. One currently hangs in our hall and the second was just laying around ready to be used. I had always dreamed of having them side by side over a huge kitchen island (one day, in our next home).

Here is what it looks like in the scheme of the room. 
I also picked up this beauty that will sit behind the rocking chair for some reading light. I think it will bring in a little modern flare that was lost by not having the black overhead light.

This weekend should see some moulding layouts and some art work DIY. Should we paint the moulding the same color as the walls or white for a little contrast? The debate is still going on in our house. Let me know what you think! 
 Keep crossing those fingers for me Buttercups. We are officially less than a month away from our due date and only 3 more weeks to get this space done.

  3. I vote moulding in the same colour. I have that overhead black fixture and it is huge…definitely needs a large room so think you definitely made the right call and I love the new lucite chandy/brass WE sconce. Your whole scheme is fabulous!

  4. I feel bad for laughing at that first pic but I love that you shared setbacks as well as successes. And are you KIDDING my with those lucite chandeliers?! They're perfect. Love the direction you're taking!

  5. Oh my, I love your moodboard and your finishes…..I really like the lucite ribbon chandelier….so pretty! I want one for myself..this is going to to be one hell of a makeover.
