As promised, I wanted to tell you about all of the goodies going into the space. Since I’ve had several months to plan and replan and go back to the original plan, I’ve collected several of the pieces for a few months now. They’ve just lingering about and ready for their end use. A few of them, I must admit, I’ve had for years!
Let’s start with the rocking chair- oh that rocking chair. It’s in the Thonet Bentwood style with a cane seat and back. It’s pretty reminiscent of the rocking chair in my grandmother’s living room and so every time I rock the little one to sleep, I’ll think of her. I have had for about 2 years and it’s sadly been in our dungeon basement. It had came into my life after going to pick up some nesting tables from Craig’s List and the woman was selling it for $10. I snatched that shiz right up but had no where to put it but a new baby’s room. So finally the day is here- well it will be after a little fixing up by my upholsterer. It’ll get a fresh coat of paint and I’m confident it’ll look spiffy. Why don’t I take before pictures!?
A gift from my dad and his fiance and I’m so thankful for the gift. This piece will grow with our family for sure. Thanks Pops and Mari. Take a closer look… it’s a stunner.
This portrait (that has a lovely gilded frame) was a find at an antique shop in the Outer Banks a couple of years back. I loved the colors. It will now sit above the lucite waterfall console table we picked up this weekend.

Love your inspiration and all the pieces you've chosen – especially the Boy Blue! Ok, so I have to tell you a story about that: for my bridal shower, the theme was "Downton Abbey", and my cousins put together an "Upstairs/Downstairs"-themed gift basket. One of the "upstairs" items was a little ceramic statue of the Boy Blue! Well, my husband and I had a love/hate thing for it going on, and it quickly became a game of who could hide Boy Blue in the most outrageous places. At one point he took up residence in the kitchen, and I made him a little chef's hat. Sadly, my husband hid him in my work bag and I put it down too hard and broke off his arm. A sad day. 🙂 Can't believe I just shared that story on the internet.

These pieces look great! I can't believe you had so many great pieces in your home already! I feel like all my unused furniture is unused for a reason… Lol. Can't wait to see the progress!

Love all of this. I'm a huge old portrait fan so the boy is awesome. I adore the Mouille oveheard, bentwood rocker and cherry of course and your crib is my favourite one. Oh and that little ottoman is perfect.
