Hi Buttercups. No I’ve not gone missing. I’ve just been a craptastic blogger. Things have been pretty busy around here- new clients and a lot of general life happenings.
First, and most importantly, I’ve been growing a little human! If you’re following me on Instagram, you already have seen this news and the subsequent news that it’s a little boy! I’m about 5 months along at this point and although I’m pretty tired (all the time) I have that burst of energy that comes with the 2nd trimester- thank you Jesus. Perhaps that’s why I’m able to write. Frankly, the time and energy I do have, I want to focus on the last few months I have with my big boy (and my clients of course)! But I will try write, I promise!
Over the past couple of months, we had some excitement. We were really lucky to have gone here:
The happiest place on earth. DISNEY WORLD!
Where we met this famous mouse…
It was a wonderful trip and my son (and husband and I) enjoyed every minute. It was truly magical and seeing it through my child’s eyes beats any time I’ve ever been there myself as a child.
We also visited some family including one of my favorite Aunts- Tia Maria, who being 94, is still so with it and just like I remember her- witty and sweet and just lovely. I do adore her so.
After our little visit with her, since we were in Miami, we had to stop for Cuban food of course. I needed a Cuban sandwich and batido de mamey like my life depended on it. And so we stopped. And it was amazing.
We had a great trip and I’m sure we will travel down there again. I do love South Florida so much and have some great memories (both from this trip and when I was a teen with my Bestie, Dawn) but man alive, I could not live there. Way too hot for me! I’ll take all four seasons even if NY winters are killers.
When we returned home, we were surprised with this in one of our cyprus trees.
It was the most exciting thing I had seen since meeting Mickey! The color of the eggs was beyond incredible- even Benjamin Moore would be envious.
And so I waited.
And waited.
And finally…
One by one they hatched. And it was beautiful. (See the progression on Instagram).
Let’s just say there wasn’t just one mama interested in the well being of the little hatchlings. I’m shocked I didn’t get my eyes pecked out from Mama and Papa bird going near their nest every day twice three ok four times a day. And although the nest is now empty I feel very fortunate to have witnessed this little miracle of nature.
Here is one last shot- the morning before they flew from the nest.
I miss them dearly. Sally, Bobby and Jean. (The first one hatched the morning after Mad Men ended-so that’s that)
So– pretty exciting things around the old Meyer house.
I have a feeling things are going to get even more busy around here with a nursery to plan and perhaps some other minor home renovations (and a summer of fun of course)!
While I’ve had some designer’s block, I managed to put together a little something for the nursery which I hope to share soon!
Awesomely enough, I did pick up this piece…. ya huh- yippee.
You may recall seeing it from this post. I bit the bullet and purchased it as my jumping off point for the little dude’s nursery. I’m excited.
So stay tuned Buttercups. If you don’t feel like checking back every now and again, you can always subscribe and get a little piece of me all in your inbox.
Thanks for reading along…
