So yea… That book is now a movie. So many of you are rushing out to see the movie because let’s face it, our imaginations can only do so much. I’m hoping to see it as well, mostly to see how the book was interpreted (the good parts) and yes Jamie Dornan (with his shirt off). I got to thinking about what Christian Grey’s room looks like. His bedroom Buttercups- not the room of tricks and treats. From what I can imagine and recollect from reading the novel, he lives in a pretty modern and sparse space– nothing too ornate and certainly no breakable tchotchkes by the bedside (if you get where I’m going with that…).
Fifty Shades of Grey Inspired Bedroom
Not sure why I’ve had so many sleepless nights as of late, but in my sleepless moments, I was thinking up what kind of room I would design for Mr. Grey. It would have to be masculine for sure (duh) but something a woman could appreciate. It would have to be a little dark and moody but with the teensiest bit of humor. A space that felt luxurious and well, sexy…
Here is what I came up with.
Now I realize that the wallpaper is a little much but this is as much a fantasy room as me being Anastasia Steele for a night. I do adore that wallpaper – a lot.
The bed I chose for obvious reasons- total function there. And it’s gold. But I love its clean lines and again, it’s gold. 😉
Can we talk about the chair? It’s a sexy beast. It’s black croc – enough said.
Balancing out all the black, I added a little color with the Neo Toile pillows, the pretty ottoman/bench and the fabulous, in your face art, by my girl crush Stephanie Vovas. I’ve used this piece in another e-design. It makes my heart beat a little faster. It’s so provocative and stunning.
That face- yes it’s an oversized face planter and I may need him for our new home. I think it may get a veto from the hubster… but a girl can try.
So that’s that Buttercups. Who has seen the movie? Who’s going to see it? Who wants to go with me?
I’d like to mention before you leave — a lot of what you see in the mood board is from a little shop I am absolutely dying to get to. It’s called Black Rooster. They are in Canada and when we head up that way on vacation, it will be a spot I’ll hit up for sure. Thankfully they have a website you can check out here to browse all this designer eye candy.
If you would like any sources, please feel free to comment or email.
Have a great Valentine’s Day! Big smoochers all around.
