It’s no secret I love babies- certainly, my own, the mostest of all. I have a feeling, however, there will be another babe born soon who will steal my heart. My best friend is having a BABY and I couldn’t be more thrilled. She and I have been partners in crime besties circa 1990 when we met in grade school. Throughout my life, Dawn has been a constant source of happiness, love and wisdom (you know–for when I do dumb shit). She is the best advice giver/listener/secret keeper anyone could hope to have. We share such a special bond that I can only imagine is what sisters share. I love her beyond words.
This is Dawn.
Here she is holding my little man.
There is nothing better than seeing your childhood pal holding your child. Best. Feeling. Ever.
Ok but back to her (*wiping tears*) and her newest addition.
Here is my beautiful best friend and her announcement- super cute!
Did I mention she is gutting her new house and I am the designer on hand. Stay tuned for those posts… lots of prettiness underway.
Soon after I learned she was pregnant and the jumping up and down screaming stopped, my mind raced with ideas for a nursery for her baby. Naturally, I thought she was having a girl. PS: I am a terrible predictor of unborn babies. You’re better off with a needle and a string’s prediction than ask me. And sure enough, she is having a boy!
When we were discussing what she wanted in terms of a scheme for the nursery she mentioned woodland animals- but not the baby animals with great big eyes peering back at you– but something a little more refined and sophisticated. I agreed- pretty much because we share a brain most of the time.
My mind immediately went to a wallpaper I was dying to use but haven’t gotten the opportunity to as of yet.
Dawn agreed instantly that this would be the perfect paper to give the room a woodland vibe.
**Happy dance**
This wallpaper was so inspiring to me, I really was able to get the nursery’s design down in a few hours.
Here is is…
I was so pleased when Dawn said she loved it. (More happy dance).
I really love the black and white rug (a steal from Ikea) with the pops of blue.
Yes, the ceiling will be blue- actually the same blue as the dresser. Can we just talk about THAT dresser!? Mid century goodness- all pretty with a touch of gold. Awesome.
This is the blue from the dresser that will also be the ceiling. So gorgeous.
Benjamin Moore Hale Navy
As for the woodland animals they are making an appearance in the form of these pretty prints from Etsy.
How sweet are they!?
The mirror that will hang above the changing dresser also gives a nod to the woodland scheme.
While there have been some tweaks, the majority of it is a go. I really can’t wait for it to come together and more importantly to meet my newest nephew and Buttercup. I think it’s a space that the baby can grow with and enjoy for years to come.
Congrats to Dawn and Nick (pictured below with my little man at 3 months).
I think Nick’s face says he’s ready for fatherhood. Precious!
