Welcome to Week 2 of the One Room Challenge! Not much has been going on and I don’t foresee any real work getting done this weekend with the weather being nice and my garden needing some weeding. But I promise, I’ll have something to show soon! There is a lot of behind the scenes boring stuff like ordering and speaking with vendors etc… It’s not like I’ve not been doing anything. And if you’re at all worried I will get it done, remember this is the girl that handed in a still “warm off the printer” essay to her professor in college. He was not amused.
If you’re following me on Instagram, you’ll get more of an update as to what has been going on-namely the challenge in the ORC. As I might have mentioned before, the rug has been very difficult to source with things being out of stock then magically being discontinued. But then came a rug I liked. I purchased said rug and the company sent me the wrong color way. Ok no biggee. They agreed to ship out a new one pronto and so yesterday I received the replacement. I cautiously opened it because my husband mentioned it looking the same. Wrong rug again! I wasn’t furious but just deflated. I had been so unsure of this rug choice from the beginning because it was never in my original mood board and well, I think the universe may be telling me to give it up!
This week I have been thinking through some design details that I may want to add such as a trim of velvet ribbon below the crown moulding. I’m such a sucker for a detailed space and think this might be the just the thing I’m looking for to add that special touch. I’m thinking a nice creamy yellow to go with my FB Market place settee find. Oh Facebook Marketplace the land of hidden treasures and unexpected new friends. Yes, while picking up the new to me armoire, dresser and nightstand, I made friends with a sweet couple and now we’re going to have drinks soon. What a world-eh?
This is one of the pieces. I love the details. I will be leaving it as is- maybe give it a good shine.
I’m sure you’re wondering what it is I have to do in this space.
Here is my to do list:
- Paint Cabinetry
- Order Drapery and bed cornice drapery ( I will have these professionally done/installed)
- Source, order and add trim under the crown
- Source new rug that’s actually in stock and can be delivered on time
- I may try my hand at whipping up a window seat cushion. I can’t make any promises but I have ordered some sample fabric from Schumacher to see if the seat is an option.
- Moulding paint touch ups
- styling
- photography (hiring my fabulous photographer Tim from Creepwalk Media once again)
I believe I had promised some before shots. Take a look.
When we did a walk through at the open house. I immediately could picture myself in this space.

Cornice Box Install and figuring out sconces
There was a lot of measuring and eye balling. Do you follow the account husbandsholdingthings? It’s our life.
This is the cabinetry that needs painting. There’s more of it just not pictured. #funtimes
Ok…that’s it for this week. Keep following along! I appreciate every single comment and DM suggestions. Hopefully I’ll have something to show for myself.
