Hello there and welcome to week 4 of the One Room Challenge! I took the third week off (I mainly sourced things and ordered supplies) to spend time with my boys. The weather was absolute perfection and so we headed up to Lake George here in NY for a much needed getaway. It was so warm that we were in the outdoor pool-in the middle of May-in upstate NY!
There are only 4 weeks left to get this room together but for me, it’s more like 3 because I will be having the space professionally photographed for my portfolio the week before. So I’ve been working my tail off this week in between nap time and feeding and diapering the cutest little tush. I mainly get most of my work done in the morning/early afternoon while the big boys are at school.
I am absolutely thrilled with how the cabinetry is coming out. Painting it blue was a bit of a risk, but it was worth it. The muted blue hue that matches the crown and door moulding elevates the whole look of the space and makes it feel warm and inviting- rich and sophisticated. For me, that’s a winning combination for sure! For my husband’s sake, it grounds all of the femininity of the wallpaper and drapery.
My biggest struggle with the space now (and has been) is the rug. Sadly I don’t think the blue is staying. It feels too much in the space. And for a more is more person like myself, that’s saying a lot. It might come really down to the wire for finding one (settling on one) because once again, I’ve ordered one and the shipping seems a little fishy. You know “UPS Label Created” full stop FOR 3 DAYS now. Grrr!
Shall we take a look at some progress shots?

And this…
Sorry for the wrinkled coverlet. Dog jumped on the bed. I got distracted with a text and then took the picture. Such is my life. The cabinets are not finished. They need a second coat of paint and I need to touch up a few spots-but this will give you an idea of what it looks like and where it’s heading.
In the photo above, I am trying to figure out what bedding I should use. This is our current bed coverlet. We have had it since registering for it during our wedding preparation. It has held up really well so I’m not 100% sure if I will decide on the other I purchased. Head on over to my Instagram where I will chat about it on my stories.
Ok! Wish me luck as I’m approaching my deadline. I’ll get it done. Somehow!
Please make sure to head on over to the ORC site and see the progress of all the Featured Designers and my fellow Guest Participants. There are some pretty great projects out there!
