Welcome guys to week 3 of the Bathroom Primp and Pamper!
If you’re new to reading this, please check out week one here. You probably landed here from A Pinterest Addict’s blog– thanks for visiting Isn’t the wallpaper she chose amazing!? Again a big thank you to Jewel for including me in this roundup of super talented ladies.
I would also like to thank our sponsors for their collaborations and support for all us gals working hard to spruce up our spaces! Lamps Plus and Liberty Hardware were amazing to work with on this! Thank you, thank you!
So yea, I started the floor prep today. Yup, the photoshoot I had scheduled for Wednesday had to be pushed back to Saturday. Thank goodness my photographer could accommodate me! There was no way in hell I could have gotten the floors done this past weekend and I will tell you why. I probably got like 8 hours of sleep total between Friday and Sunday. You see my little nugget had eye surgery on Friday and while he was a trooper, he was miserable for the greater part of the weekend. All our focus was on him naturally. So the bathroom went neglected.
Today I am happy to report that he’s doing just fine and I was able to do some work on the bathroom while my other kiddo was at school.
Here’s what I did:
I lightly sanded the floor with a medium grit sandpaper to rough them up a bit so that the paint would adhere. Then I thoroughly cleaned the floor, making sure I got in there and scrubbed really well. I vacuumed and then wiped the floor one last time to get anything left behind. I taped off the trim and around the toilet and sink and then I got to painting. I chose an Epoxy paint since it seemed to be the most durable. I then painted first coat with a small roller with a 1/4″ nap. The small roller was great for this project and super easy to use. I let that dry for a little while. When I felt it was dry (to the touch) I laid down coat number 2. It was fairly quick because my space isn’t that large to begin with. I put the baby down for a nap and put the preschooler on the tablet and rested and caught up on Days of Our Lives while that dried. After dinner, I painted the grout lines, making sure I got in there really well. PS: I haven’t been this acquainted with a toilet since the good old college days if you get my drift. Ugh.
Here’s a progress shot. This is 2 coats and painted grout lines.
Now I’m waiting to put the final coat down before I head up to bed. Tomorrow (today) I stencil. Oh Lord, please help. I’m hoping it goes well and that somehow I can coerce my husband to help me out a little.
Make sure you guys are following me on Instagram. I’ll be storying my adventures in stenciling!
