So when you think of art you think of paint or photography, oil pastels or other mediums right? I do too, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve been really loving alternative art as of late or as I like to call it: put what you love in a frame- like a leftover fabric remnant, a brooch, or even those pretty shopping bags from the high end shops that are little luxuries in themselves.
I’ve always been in love with fabric- I have a trillion samples and swatches. It can really bring a space to life. It can create drama, be fun and playful or be utilitarian as I am finding I need more of because of these darlings:
When I was first sourcing fabric for the settee in our living room, I wanted something bold, black and white on the back of it. I thought I had found the perfect piece of fabric, but being responsible perfectionist, I ordered a fat quarter swatch just to make sure it would work. It did not work. AT ALL. So I now had this large piece of fabric. I didn’t want another pillow and I didn’t have the heart to just chuck it. So…. I framed it and it looks glorious in its new home- and with the newly painted door- HEAVEN.
