Well well. It’s that time of year again when I get giddy to dust off the winter and make my home fresh again! It’s also One Room Challenge time! I am pretty much on my own for this one though because my good old husband said NO MORE of these for a while (that was last Spring)! But here I am and so that’s that. So welcome to my 6 week renovation!
If you’re following me on Instagram you’ll know by now that I surprised my husband, Craig with a mini kitchen makeover. It really all started with my idea of painting our cabinets. They are pretty good cabinets and in good condition. I just didn’t love the color. Then when my dad was over one day, I asked him how hard was it to do a backsplash. Since he’s a master at most DIY jobs around the house, he of course said not too hard. We could do it together. (Ok so maybe I won’t be doing this job ALL by my self.) But do you see how this mini makeover is snowballing? Well, it snowballed a little more into getting new counter tops and a new sink and faucet. Oh and a pot filler. Now, now, I’m not that high maintenance, but since the pipe was already there, we decided to get one. In my defense, our pots are really heavy to begin with, so having a handy pot filler will save my wrists.
So you see, this is a finish upper One Room Challenge for me. I need a swift kick in the booty to just get it done. It feels like as soon as I got started in early February, my life imploded with the terminal diagnosis of cancer and subsequent death (a week later) of my beloved Abuela (grandmother). It sent me reeling and I haven’t been able to focus on much stuff truth be told. Then a much needed vacation happened and well now it’s April and while the countertops are in and look gorgeous, the cabinets need to be finished and the room painted and well I’ve accumulated a list. And so why not join up and have some accountability each week!? Fun times.

I did make a couple of changes like the lighting and the countertop sample. I’ll tell you all about that stuff in the next few weeks though so stay tuned!
