We have officially moved and are settling into our new forever home. Forever 1. because I love this house and 2. because I am never moving again. UGH!
A little bit about our home, our dream home.
It is technically 5 bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is being used as the dining room and with that said, when we hit our elder years and can no longer use the stairs, we can move the master downstairs and use the dining room as our bedroom. It also has 3 full bathrooms (lots to clean but– whatever). The house also boasts (actually I’m boasting about it) a huge porch. I mean you could bowl down this thing. We hang out on it often with our cat Lucky whom we inherited with the house and I’ve taken to quite nicely.
The floor plan on the main level is pretty open but the more formal spaces are closed off by pocket doors. Yes. Pocket doors from the period of the house. 1892. Yes, Buttercups, I live in an old ass house which has been a dream of mine since I was young. We have several rooms in which to entertain, perfect for us entertainers and I’m already planning my first party a Halloween Housewarming party complete with a costume from the era the house was built.
Off the dining room, we have a parlor. Yup, fancy that, a parlor. And in keeping with that, it is by far the most formal of all the spaces. It houses most of my precious antiques, including that amazing blue sofa that I purchased in the antique store. I do love that space and all the fun things it holds and when we finally can get our hands on it, it’ll be getting some dramatic wallpaper. I can’t wait!
Upstairs we have 3 bedrooms and 2 full bath rooms, one of which is our master bath that yes, needs a makeover- make under. The color is a really really bright coral and not my thang at all. But little by little it’ll get done- like a lot of things in the house. It’s not a total gut job but things need paint and whatnot.
On the 3 floor, we have another bedroom which will eventually be home to our two sons. If we have another child, he or she will be on the same floor as us.
The yard is spacious enough room for a garage that has a loft space above it (on my husband’s wish list for sure) and lots of room for little kids and pups and such.
So that’s that Buttercups. You can see a lot more on my Instagram stories. I’ll be doing more tours for those of you who have missed. So if you aren’t following me, please do. Thanks. Chat soon. XO
