Hey ladies and gents. Lately (if I’ve gotten a solid night sleep), I’ve been getting up without a problem at around 6. I love this time of day when all is quite in the house– God I hope I didn’t just jinx myself… but I can watch News Channel 4 ….pretty much for Michael Gargiulo’s smile (he is one cute newscaster).
Ok back to it. I’ve been doing a ton of design work on my house (the one we still don’t own) because you know, even if we don’t move into this house for some reason, I will be able to use these designs anywhere else. And if you’re following me along on IG or on my Facebook page, you’ve gotten to see the foyer (yes how fancy- a foyer), my formal living room and Freddy’s new big boy room. If you missed it, here are the mood boards.
Yes, that’s floral wallpaper.
Formal Living Room
You know… where we can adult.
The Fredman’s room.
While the foyer and the living room are beautiful and cohesive, I wanted Freddy’s room to have good design but keeping it somewhat playful and colorful. I’ve gotten some comments as to why a 3 (almost 4 year old) has something so non-kiddy. And frankly, he has enough kid crap all over the house that his room should feel like a part of the house, not something out of Paw Patrol (which he may or may not be over next month). My answer though is because he won’t be playing too much in his room. We have a 3rd floor (finished attic) that I plan on having the boys play in when I’m down one level in the bedrooms and bathrooms doing chores. They will also have a space on the main level of the home for some of their toys as well, you know… the den.
I’m not one (and have never been) the type of mom to baby proof to the point that I can not have a beautiful home. Yes, our outlets are covered, our cabinets with the cleaning supplies are locked, but I have all my art out and my knick knacks displayed and my kids know (well at least Freddy knows and Henry will too one day) to respect them. Adding to that is the respect that they have for other people’s things. When we go visit my grandparents or have play dates, I don’t have to hover and tell him not to touch the fragile things.
So back to Freddy’s room. It’s farking cool, right!? I’ll be writing more about it and the inspiration for it soon. Check back. Have a beautiful day!
