Hey guys, can you believe it’s almost August? I can’t say that I have loved July… it’s been a lot of house stress and uncertainty (which I HATE). We still have yet to close on our home, so that means the house is still a packing disaster. I was hoping to have closed on our house and be in our temporary home (my MIL’s house) before I left for my mommy vacation in South Florida with my best friend, Dawn. In the back (back- back) of my head I was dreading coming back to the chaos of moving. But the pina coladas and wine helped with that.
Despite the worrying about what I would come home to, I did have such a wonderful time. The trip was just what both of us needed. It was a chance to catch up (not that we don’t chat every day) and relax in the sun and surf. I feel so fortunate to have been able to take a break from it all. Thanks to my husband and mother in law for taking care of the kiddos!
Each day on our mommy getaway, Dawn and I got up and had breakfast on the terrace overlooking the ocean. Then we put on our bikinis and went to either the beach or pool.
A few hours was all we needed in the sun so we would come in and get showered, eat lunch, and nap. Those naps were key since we went to some pretty late dinners- one being at 9:30 at a cute Greek place with the best grilled octopus I had ever had. I’m still dreaming about it!
Dawn and I have so many memories that were made on our vacations to Pompano Beach. We had first gone down there back in ’98 and then a few more times when we were in college.
We were always well taken care of since her Uncle and Aunt live down there as well. Uncle Billy is one of the coolest people I know. He’s funny and down to earth and just one of those warm souls. One of our nights he took us all out to dinner. It was Dawn and I, UB(that’s what we call him) his wife Ange and their son, Josh (we were missing Josh’s wife Stephanie since she had to work the next day early). We ate Mexican food and drank buckets (literally) of Margheritas. We didn’t want to end the night with just dinner and since UB and Josh are such beer conosierus they insisted that I had to try this beer they obsess over, La Fin Du Monde. And so the night continued at a little lounge. It was the most fun I had had drinking in a while and the beer was pretty good and I’m not a beer drinker.
The vacation continued with more beach and pool but like any day in Florida, a storm can roll out of nowhere and then it’s time to go SHOPPING! We decided that since we didn’t have any kids with us that it would be he perfect time to have a shopping experience and take a ride down to the Bal Harbour shops in Miami. This high end luxury mall was stunning with its palm trees and koi ponds.
Even the restroom was impressive.
The stores were equally amazing to the outdoor atmosphere with Chanel, Mui Mui and Valentino being some of the shops we spent some time in. I sadly was not in the market for anything since just this month I purchased my first Chanel bag (which I’m still giddy over). But Dawn was and so we shopped and looked and felt up the prettiest bags and shoes ever. She ultimately ended up purchasing a stunner at Mui Mui. By far it’s one of the chicest coolest bags I’ve ever seen. I hope she wears it in good health and remembers our little trip that she purchased it on.
So that was our trip in a nutshell. But back to reality. In actuality, I’ve been looking forward to August since it means my client’s kitchen will be underway. I can’t wait to see it all come together. It’s marble and grey porcelain tile goodness with this stunning cabinetry that makes my heart flutter. Andddd yesterday, she received her wallpaper delivery… I’m so excited- just like Jessie Spano only without the uppers excited.
So there you are Buttercups. What I’ve been up to lately. Stay tuned as I blog and bitch more about moving in the Heat Dome. Wah wah wah.
