A Birthday and a Giveaway!

My blog, my corner of the internet is 1 today! I started this blog as a way of expressing myself through my love of design. In the little corner of my heart, I hoped to inspire you my readers and Buttercups to find your creative side and to make your house a home that you love.
I hope that you’ll continue to follow along in this next year of blogging bliss.
For a few months now, I’ve been wanting to tell you about one of my secrets of sorts. My name is Mary and I am a throw pillow addict (among other things like faux fur vests and lamps). I have probably an unhealthy love of these little guys though. And much to the dismay of Craig, my husband, my obsession has only grown thanks to my Instagram follower turned friend, Betsy from Little Design Co. also known to me and all of her followers as the best dang pillow place on Etsy.
So a little history…You know that connection you get when you’re drunk at a club/bar in the bathroom and in your drunkenness, you connect with the gal next to you in a weird sort of way? ( I know some of you can relate….) This is sort of how I felt with Betsy. Through double taps (the Instagram way to “like” something) and encouraging comments and such, she and I became fast friends. Let me tell you she saved my tush a few times with her savvy business skills and overall accommodating good nature. Betsy is the super talented lady behind all of this goodness…

I mean… come on. 
Dying.
Dead.
And buried.
She’s nails it with her pillow combinations. It’s always fresh and different and has convinced any non believer that leopard is a neutral– for reals. She’s the cat’s pajamas if you ask me. 
So Betsy has this thing on IG where she regrams pictures her customers take with the pillows they have purchased. She sweetly has dubbed these regrams as “Pillow Talk.” I wanted to have a little fun with Bets (as I call her) and have a little Pillow Talk sesh myself- a mini interview.

What do you love most about what you do–creating these gorgeous pillows?
– My favorite part would definitely be putting together different combinations (mixing and matching) and staging product – I feel like the pillows really come to life and creates a visual for the consumer/client. 
– My second, very close favorite, is working side by side with interior designers and coming up with the perfect combination.



Coffee or tea?

Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Latte Soy no Whip, por favor.


Absolute dream job?

This is a hard one. I don’t know if I have a dream job but I have dream goals/projects…

– full line of soft goods from bedding, pillows, window treatments, table linens, etc. and small upholstered items; ottomans, console tables, headboards, etc. (this is in the works)- textile design

– flipping a house or two 


Who inspires you?

#1: My husband. He’s also really good at making me smile. 
#2: Friends of the trade that I’ve connected with on Instagram (like yourself- aw shucks, thanks Bets!). I am so so very grateful for these relationships – they inspire me every single day.


Pizza or Chinese food?

Pizza, hands down.


What is one thing in your home you treasure the most? Family Heirloom? A piece of art? A total thrift store score?

Thrift Score: Thats a tough one. Everything is my home is thrifted. Literally everything. But I would have to say that my vintage Drexel dresser turned media console (Craigslist $75) in my living room is high on the list. I also have a set of vintage Baker Bergeres (Craigslist $150 for the pair) and Milo Baughman style parson chairs (Craigslist $300 for the pair) that are tied at second. Oh and…I heart Craigslist – it’s my treasure chest. 

Art: One of my most prized possession would be a watercolor of the Chapel at Sea Island, Georgia that my Uncle and artist, Bob Moody of Birmingham, AL painted. This is where my husband and I were married. I just adore it and all its meaning.

Family Heirloom: An enameled trinket box that my late grandfather gave me on my wedding day. It was my great great grandmother Larsen’s of Finland that she carried with her to America. It makes my heart happy.

  3. So hard to choose, I think my fave is the classic leopard on the white settee (with blush drapes in the background-die) but also looooove the 2nd one down, the antelope (I think) with grey velvet and the graphic channels in behind. *Fingers crossed for the win**

  4. I pick the first photo! Felt like love at first sight when my eyes landed upon the "girl boss" pillow in brass and black. I died. That's one gorgeous pillow combo.
