So some things have been going on for this week 4 of the ORC. I’m stressing about the things that haven’t been done and trying to find time to get it all in- all with a giant carnival/circus theme first birthday only a few days before. But we are making some progress.
Easter Sunday after church, the very handy hubbie put up the chandelier lickety split. I can not get over how easy it was to install after the nightmare we had installing another chandelier recently. So yay, it’s up and looks really spectacular.
All lit up. We also put it on a dimmer.
How it looks off. (excuse all the mess- work in progress!)
Can’t decide if I need a ceiling medallion for this or not. The top looks naked against the ceiling.
Also this week, I started to strip the Draper style chest (not Don- for all you Mad Men viewers- Dorothy Draper- the first person to ever professionalize the Interior Design trade). I was hoping to get it all done by week’s end, but that ain’t happenin’. But I did make a dent in the project.
I started with a before shot.
I included the picture of my Tia (aunt) Tita and had her watching the whole time I was scraping and whatnot. *side note: that is me she is holding and I have had that picture by my bedside for as long as I can remember.
I applied the stripper- which is in gel form and super easy to work with.
And this started happening.
So excited!
Since the paint was latex, it sort of looked like a balloon when I started to peel it off. I’m geeky like that and thought that was the coolest thing.
More progress. Scrapity scrape scrape scrape.
And this is where I left off and proceeded to go out for sushi lunch with my mother in law and baby Freddy. Priorities people. Priorities.
And this is where I have left it until I can get at it again. Hoping to get it all stripped by Monday… ha ha ha.
What’s left on the list is painting and accessorizing- and one more easy DIY. I’m not wallpapering for now… not enough time and not in the budget.
So thank you all for coming along on this wild 6 week ride and for the sweet and encouraging comments.
