Welcome to the 3rd edition of I heart art. Today I’m talking about Watercolor and the wonderful work of Eleni Sofroniou- who I’m glad to call my friend across the pond. Eleni lives and creates her beautiful art in London. Now I always heard that watercolors are among the toughest mediums to work with. (Although, funny enough, in High School I was told by my art teacher that I was a great watercolorist- pat pat on the back.) Eleni takes inspiration from all over which I admire so much. From magazines to fashion to her travels, she spins out stunning images from what she see in the world. Her use of watercolor always leaves a trail of faded color which has such a beautiful and dreamy effect. Check out some of this loveliness.

Over the past year, I’ve been fortunate to commission Eleni on 2 works. I can’t say enough how easy going it was. The first, was from a picture taken on our wedding day. I remember this moment so clearly. I was going up the stairs of the church with my dad after having my veil fly off my head. ERG! I had to quickly shove it back on and head in for the ceremony. But I had to wait outside for a minute because Craig was still waiting in the vestibule. Did I mention it was December…in NY!? Anyway the photographer captured that moment of (freezing) anticipation.
She put this together to showcase it on her site.
I gave the illustration to Craig for Valentine’s day and he loved it. It’s in our bedroom framed but still needs to be hung ( adding that to the Honey Do list right now). It’s so special and I love looking at it when I get ready daily.
The other illustration I had her do was for my blog, particularly for the new Bloglovin button. I wanted something that showed who I am and what I love to do- blog! She came up with the amazingness.
My beloved peacock chair! She captured me and all the details so perfectly- so super duper awesome. I was really pleased. The illustration can now be found on my About page and you can check out the Bloglovin button on the right side of the blog. It looks pretty terrific!
I’m so fortunate to have had these made especially for me and so I thank Eleni from the bottom of my heart. She is truly a great artist and such a sweet, kind person. Watercolor is tough- and maybe I’ll try my hand at it again- but for now, I’m looking to Fall into London some more.
