Hey there! I’m slacking this week on the I Heart Art so I thought I would share a little DIY project I did last weekend that literally took an hour or so. We had bought a couple of simple, black nesting tables when we first moved in. They are functional but VERY dull. I thought about painting them a few times but never got around to it. I’m glad I didn’t because they are nice in black especially with the new sofa- all they needed was a little zhoosh. So I zhooshed with some gold spray paint.
They really looked sad…
Not the cutest things.
Let the mini makeover begin…
Since I was painting a semi smooth surface, I used this to prime the legs since I wanted to be sure the spray paint would adhere well and the black wouldn’t go through.
After measuring about six inches up, I taped the section off that I wanted to be gold and then I primed my little heart out.
Then I forgot to take a picture of the primed legs… oops- so sorry.
Next I took the little guys out back and sprayed them down.
I took the tape off and was pretty pleased about how they turned out. Side note: I did have to touch them up with a black Sharpie where the paint bled (I’m thinking about using Frog tape for all my projects- the blue tape gives me trouble every time!)
I think they make a nice addition to the living room makeover. What do you think?
Have a great weekend Buttercupians. I’ll be DIYing my brains out this weekend in preparation for the little dude’s party. Wish me luck!

Gorgeous! What spray paint did you use? I really like the way this one looks.
I used Rust- Oleum Specialty Metallic Gold. Works perfectly!
They are sad no more – love that and what a great little way to brighten up your tables.
I just painted a secretary with 3Ms version of frog tape – it's hard to get a long piece off but it seems to work just as well.

they came out perfectly…I wish I was as handy/crafty as you are.
