Hey there. Sorry for no post yesterday. Things got a little crazy here at Casa Meyer. Not bad crazy- just busy and with the little Mr. getting into everything nowadays, it’s hard to get blogging done sometimes. But I’m back today-
This weekend was fun. We actually didn’t have anything going on either day so it was nice just to hang out and be together. Saturday we found ourselves shopping around for some hardware for the new curtains that were going up in the living room. Buying some hardware turned into this loveliness happening…
The set I had drooled over for months from Jonathan Adler’s line at JcPenny was on super clearance and since it was the floor model we could get a little more off the ticket price.
*cue streamers from the ceiling*
So after quickly going home to make sure it would fit, I called the sales woman and told her we’d be right down after the baby got up from napping. PS: I never wanted the baby to wake up so badly!
Since it was the floor model- we would have to get this thing home some how. Craig packed up tools and twine like a good Boy Scout so were definitely prepared to load this table in my little Pearly ( my car). I can only image what we looked like getting this thing in the car and driving home. It was one of those Man I hope I don’t look like one of those jerks on the highway with the mattress precariously sitting on top of his car hoping that it doesn’t fall off with the hazard lights flashing kind of moments. Surprisingly, everything went smoothly (the table fit in the car) and we got the table home in one piece- thank you Jesus.
Now, the real work began. Designing the space that just sort of came out of left field. So I hopped on my computer and began a little design work. There are some things I have that are staying in the space, namely the black console table and the Dorothy Draper style chest and the cowhide (I think). I am looking for a vintage and modern feel combined- the style I love. I got some inspiration from the ever inspiring Christine Dovey. That chick has the skills!
Here’s what I came up with so far.
(Option 1)
Yes yes, I know there are more chairs, but I didn’t want to clutter up the board and I couldn’t find a great picture of the greyish upholstered chairs that came with the set (they show up way darker on the computer and were muddying up the design).
(Option 2)
Change of lighting fixture
(Option 3)
Change of lighting fixture, art (more modern in feel) and the blue bust- have you ever!?? Oh and I lightened the lamp shades…
(Option 4)
Above mentioned changes but a different rug. I know I already have a black and white striped rug, but I do adore them.
I sort of like them all! I may do one more board, but this is good for now. Still have to decide on a wall color… not that I want to paint again neither does Craig. But right now the color in there is wayyyy off. No es bueno.
I can already envision this space and it’s making me giddy thinking about how different the feeling of the house will be. We had a black table there and with the room getting zero sunlight it always felt dark. Not anymore! Alleluia. What a difference a white table makes and a lacquered one at that. Light just bounces around the room now- it’s so much brighter! And did I mention it’s larger than the old table? It makes the room feel larger (and more in charger– haha!).
So that’s that Buttercups. Our little relaxing Saturday turned into a room revamp! Which design strikes your fancy?
