I have fallen in love. It’s a bold choice for some- but for me, it’s all too perfect. The black door. I’m not sure where I first saw it but when I did it was love- instantaneous love. Ok so I know it’s been talked about and blogged about and frankly it’s been around the block- a few times but like the LBD in your closet it’s classic and chic.
Take a look at these lovely spaces.
PS: can I just move into this living room!? Please.

Each of these photos reflect perfectly why I love black doors. They can match the furniture as in the first shot bringing a cohesive look to the space. Or in the second photo, they can play it cool fading into the back ground just enough that you almost don’t notice them (but do-totally) or lastly they stand out against a beautiful color and their crispness is so refreshing it’s not even funny.
Even though I want to paint every door in my house right about now, I’m happy with the front door exterior and interior being black. It was a little tough trying to convince the hubster to let me do the exterior of the front door, but he relented, mostly because I took on the painting. And when it was done he actually really liked it. It somehow had made our cute little house a little more hip.
So sad I didn’t take a before shot, it was actually cute in blue, but I didn’t want cute anymore.
Does this count?
Oh hey there Charlie.
It really did come out lovely and really elevated the feel of the house as a whole from the outside. I’ll be posting about the exterior of our house when spring is here and the landscaping is manicured… right now as you can tell from the above picture, winter has not been kind.
Now… onto the inside. I farking love how this turned out. I hadn’t planned on painting the interior of the front door, but slowly as the living room makeover was happening the door suddenly felt a bit lacking. So off the baby went to Gammy’s house and I got to painting. It didn’t take long at all but the effect was and is stunning and it really ups to glam factor in our living room where we spend most of our time.
